Royal Kitchen

Baked manapua and roast meat, early in the day

N Beretania Street, Chinatown Cultural Plaza

100 N Beretania St, Shop 175, Honolulu, HI 96817808-524-4461

Royal Kitchen lists Shop 175 at 100 N Beretania Street and describes baked manapua, the local name it uses for baked bao, with cha siu, chicken, kalua pork, Portuguese sausage and a vegetarian filling. The same menu sells roast duck, cha siu and roast pork by the pound, so it is the early roast-meat and bun stop rather than a cart dim sum room.

Build an order. Order a Vegetarian Bun or Cha Siu Bun with Shrimp Dumpling (Har Gow) if you want a small plate, or take Roast Duck by the half with a cha siu plate. Kalua Pork Bun and Portuguese Sausage Bun are the local fillings on the same baked-manapua list. Jai is listed as a catering tray, not a single plate.

Before you go. The operator PDF lists Mon-Fri 5:30 AM-2:00 PM and Sat-Sun 6:30 AM-2:00 PM. The live site, read on a Wednesday, showed open today 6:30 am-2:00 pm, so the printed weekday open time and the live widget do not match; call before an early arrival. The site says to call (808) 524-4461 to order. Parking: free 30-minute parking behind the shop, enter on N Kukui St between River and Maunakea St.

No delivery listed No delivery listed on the operator's ordering page as of 2026-09-30; confirm by phone.

111 N King St, Honolulu, HI 96817808-888-2823

Hawaii Dim Sum & Seafood Restaurant lists 111 N King St in Chinatown and an ordering menu that splits dim sum, a Sichuan section, BBQ roast, seafood and vegetable plates. It is the pick when one table wants Shanghai soup dumplings, a Sichuan plate and roast duck without changing restaurants.

Build an order. Order Shanghai Xiao Long Bao, Siu Mai and Vegetarian Steamed Bun from the dim sum list, then add Ma Po Tofu or Sichuan Spicy Boiled Beef from the Sichuan section. Peking Duck (half) and Roast Duck (half) are on the BBQ roast list. Jai is the named vegetarian vegetable plate.

Before you go. Hours on the operator site: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 8:00 am-9:00 pm, Wednesday 8:00 am-3:00 pm. The menu page says dim sum is served 8:00 am-3:30 pm, with steamed items possibly available later until sold out, and the regular menu 10:00 am-9:00 pm. On Wednesday the restaurant's own hours end at 3:00 pm, and the ChowNow page showed open until 3:15 pm, so do not plan a 3:30 pm dim sum stop that day. Party dishes are by phone.

Lam's Kitchen calls itself a family Chinese noodle shop in Chinatown and lists house-made look fun, beef flank and tendon soup, won ton mein and beef chow fun. Use it for a noodle bowl on Maunakea Street, not for a dim sum cart.

Build an order. Order Beef Flank & Tendon Look Fun or Beef Flank & Tendon Mein, and add Won Ton Mein or Beef Chow Fun for a second bowl. Head Lettuce with Oyster Sauce is the named vegetable side; the oyster sauce means it is not a meat-free plate. Chinese Doughnut Stick is listed by the piece.

Chinatown Cultural Plaza, N Beretania Street

Mei Sum Dim Sum lists 1170 Nuuanu Avenue. That is a separate walk from the Cultural Plaza on N Beretania Street. Its dim sum carts run until 2:00 pm; after that the same menu is cooked to order.

Lam's Kitchen lists 1152 Maunakea St and calls itself a Chinatown noodle shop. Its ChowNow page adds suite #A. This is the noodle stop in the guide, not a dim sum room.

A little more clarity.

Where is Chinatown in Honolulu, and where are these Chinese restaurants?

The Chinatown Historic District page describes a neighborhood whose usual boundaries are Honolulu Harbor, Nuuanu stream, Beretania Street and Nuuanu Avenue, and it notes that those boundaries are disputed. It places Chinatown Cultural Plaza at 100 N Beretania St, Maunakea Marketplace at 1120 Maunakea St and Oahu Market at 145 N King St. In this guide, Tai Pan Dim Sum, Lee Ho Fook Restaurant and Royal Kitchen list 100 N Beretania St, Mei Sum Dim Sum lists 1170 Nuuanu Avenue, Lam's Kitchen lists 1152 Maunakea St, and Hawaii Dim Sum & Seafood Restaurant lists 111 N King St.

Where can I get dim sum in Honolulu Chinatown, and when?

Mei Sum Dim Sum lists carts until 2:00 pm and cooked-to-order dim sum after that, with weekday hours 9:00 am-8:00 pm and weekend hours 8:00 am-8:00 pm. Tai Pan Dim Sum lists 8:00 AM-3:00 PM daily, with Shrimp Dumpling at $5.95 and Soup Dumpling at $10.95 on its ordering page. Hawaii Dim Sum & Seafood Restaurant lists dim sum 8:00 am-3:30 pm on its menu page, but its Wednesday hours end at 3:00 pm. Royal Kitchen's PDF lists small plates including Shrimp Dumpling (Har Gow), and its printed hours end at 2:00 pm.

Which Chinese styles are actually on these Honolulu menus?

Mei Sum Dim Sum and Tai Pan Dim Sum list Cantonese dim sum. Lee Ho Fook Restaurant and Lam's Kitchen list Cantonese noodles and rice plates; Lee Ho Fook also lists Mapo Tofu and a shrimp dish marked Szechuan Style, and Lam's lists a Szechuan pickle noodle. Hawaii Dim Sum & Seafood Restaurant has a separate Sichuan section, plus Shanghai Xiao Long Bao and Cantonese dim sum, so it is not only Cantonese and not only Sichuan. Royal Kitchen lists Cantonese roast meats and baked buns with kalua pork and Portuguese sausage fillings.

Which of these Honolulu Chinese restaurants list delivery?

On 2026-09-30, Hawaii Dim Sum & Seafood Restaurant and Lam's Kitchen showed Pickup and Delivery on the ChowNow pages linked from their own sites, with no fee or radius printed before checkout. Tai Pan Dim Sum's ordering page listed pickup and dine-in only. Lee Ho Fook Restaurant's ordering page listed pickup only. Mei Sum Dim Sum and Royal Kitchen listed no delivery; call them.

Where do I park for Royal Kitchen, and do the plaza hours match the restaurants?

Royal Kitchen's parking page says free 30-minute parking is behind the shop, with the entrance on N Kukui St between River and Maunakea St. That note is for Royal Kitchen, not a plaza-wide rule. Restaurant hours on the operator pages do not match the Chinatown Cultural Plaza directory: Tai Pan Dim Sum lists 8:00 AM-3:00 PM, not the directory's 7:00 am-4:00 pm, and Lee Ho Fook Restaurant lists Wednesday 10:00 AM-2:00 PM, not a Wednesday closure.
